The Tactical Bulk Fuel Delivery System (TBFDS) for the United States Marine Corps CH-53E consists of three 800-gallon crashworthy, self-sealing fuel tanks and a Forward Area Refueling Equipment (FARE) kit, providing an additional 2,400 gallons of fuel for range extension or for offloading to other aircraft or combat systems on the ground. The TBFDS tanks may be single-point pressure refueled simultaneously with the helicopter's main tanks.
A single tank installation is used in the United States Air Force Special Operations TH-53A and provides a 20-inch aisle for ease of movement in the cargo compartment. |
