Up to three 800-gallon crashworthy self-sealing fuel
tanks and a Forward Area Refueling Equipment
(FARE) kit may be installed in the cargo compartment
of the Chinook helicopter to provide up to 2,400
gallons of additional fuel for extended range or for
offloading to other aircraft or combat systems on the
ground using the FARE kit. ERFS II tanks may be
single-point pressure refueled simultaneously with
the helicopter's main tanks. The complete ERFS II
may be installed or removed by four personnel in
less than 30 minutes. |
